Hi All, So it's been a very long time since we've officially sent out a newsletter to our members. It's been still very buys on the site with some of our biggest cruises since our beginnings in 2007. If you're new to Qldcruising and haven't spent much time on the site, then you probably won't have seen one of these before. We used to send out a quick update on the first day of every month (or as close to it as possible), however this has gone by the wayside a lot lately. If this is the case then you might want to introduce yourself to the crew by posting a new topic in the "Introductions" section. We would love to hear from you. Recent Cruises Our latest cruises have been a lot of fun to be honest. We have kicked off our monthly meet which we do usually on the 3rd weekend of every month. Here is a quick update on the last two events: 19th March: We had a massive turn out for this event. We had at least 20 cars arrive at the meet point all eager for a run up Mt Nebo. Unfortunately the weather got the better of us and it was foggy the whole way to Jolly's lookout. From Jolly's we only managed another 10 or so minutes of slow driving before we came across a tree on the road - BUGGER! Just for everyones information - we are re running this event this weekend Sat 14 May. 16 April: We had another great turnout for this event. Everyone had a great time heading through Mt Tamborine, down to Canungra and off to the Natural Bridge. It wasn't long before hunger got the better of us all and so we headed to all-you-can-eat Pizza Hut in Kirra! Here are a couple of photos below: (BIG THANKS TO BlownBMW) More at viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3448 An interstate Queenslander I just wanted to do a quick shout out to Alex (beagle_senior) who has been still so committed to keeping us all updated on the progress on his MR2 even while he is across the country in South Australia. Can't wait to have you back for a cruise some day soon. Alex has had some fantastic stuff happening with his car lately. Already pumping out over 300hp at the rear wheels, enough is never enough for this car. With new goals set work has begun - click the following link to follow Alex's progress on this amazing car: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=1951 Have fun on the forum, and for new members we'd love to hear from you. To view pictures, please open the full article if you are viewing from the Queensland Cruising homepage Welcome back to Queensland Cruising for another monthly dose of events, conversations, pictures and car culture. If you haven't seen one of these before, then you probably joined after the 1st of August. So in saying that, welcome to all of the new members over the month of August. It's brilliant to see so many new people getting welcomed into our group by our long time members and to see them getting more and more involved as the weeks progress. August has been another fantastic month for our group, despite numerous engine mishaps (mostly mine), and we have some great news to share with everyone. As you may or may not know, a number of Queensland Cruising members participated in this years Jamboree (J20). We had a great level of success, and some excellent feedback from numerous people who approached our display. It was nice to attend a car show where 98% of people were being positive about other peoples cars. There were very few people who had nothing good to say... It was a refreshing change! We Won! At Jamboree, to our complete surprise, as a group we took home the 2010 Jamboree Top Club trophy. It was both a shock and an honor to collect the trophy on behalf of Queensland Cruising at the main stage. Winning this trophy was a great achievement and a massive group effort. Jules also took home the "Top Vinyl" trophy on both Saturday & Sunday - What a fantastic effort! Here is a list of the people who helped us win this award: 88bin (Bindi) Famous (Glen) sssPulsarSr20freek (Dougie) sammyg313 (Sam) Hooble (Trevor) TIM800 (Tim) benking (Ben) Julez (Julia) Adzy (Adam) Kane (Dave) - even though he was at another stand ![]() Povpak (Mark) - not with the Commodore but was there for moral support Scotty (Scott) - not with his pimpreza but was there for moral support Addy (Adriana) Again, there for moral support Anyone who I have not put on the list - my apologies! Great effort guys! Member Insight! This month I thought we'd try a new section. It's the "Member Insight". Each month I'll ask one of our members, new or old to do a quick questionnaire for us to put in the newsletter. This month we've asked Dave (Kane) to fill it out to kick this segment off. Nick Name: Kane/Milo Car History: 1984 Alfa Romeo GTV4, 1991 Nissan Silvia, 1982 Holden TF Gemini Wagon, 1986 Larry the 'shit-c*nt' Laser, 1988 Honda CRX Generation 2, 1967 Ford Mustang, 80's Ford Bronco. Highlights in 2010: Fell down the stairs, switched to full time employment rather then being a consultant. Your next holiday destination: America Favourite Foods: Pizza/Burrito's Interests: Boobies, Golf, Reading, Automotive History, Bikes, Cooking, Festivals, Boobies Pets: Molly aka Fat Shit, Memphis aka Bowling Ball Likes: Alcohol + Good Music = Good Times Dislikes: Flat brim hats and rap Favourite Movies: Knockaround Guys Winter or Summer: Both Signature Dish: McDonalds Favourite Saying / word: Shiiitttt..............shiiittttttWHOOOREEEE!!!! Car of the Month Each month we feature a car in the monthly newsletter. This month, it's been voted that my car (OWH47) is to be featured. Now it'd be a bit naff of me to write up my car so we tasked Beebs to do it. Thanks Beebs for both the submission and also the write up. This month I have, bestowed upon me, the great honour of doing the write up for this truely legendary machine. It's hard to know where to start, knowing the history of the car and its owner. So I think i'll go from the top... From it's humble beginnings as a daily run around, this little N15 Nissan Pulsar has had a great life, with equally as great owner. Little did we know that only a few years down the track, it would become a through and through street warrior with presence that can be likened to the all mighty GTR... With our fearless leader at its helm, great things were expected of this car, and true to his words, we wouldn't be dissapointed. Inititially the little Pulsar was being shoved around by the grunty little 1.6L that it came graced with from factory. With the added lung capacity of some after market extractors, an exhaust and some intake mods, the mighty GA16 managed to pump out a beefy 67.5 fwkw's. Now whilst it wasn't going to be breaking dyno's anytime soon, the handling department was taken care of. With Strut Braces and Swaybars fitted through out the car, plus the low slung and stiff KYB shocks and King springs, the Pulsar became a true drivers car. With decent power and go kart handling, all that needed to be addressed now were the aesthetics. Luckily for Ben, the car was already graced with a decent factory exterior which was accentuated with some rare, imported factory items. To complete the look, 17 inch race rims were fitted all round and the car was hooked up with a killer stereo install. It had the looks, it had the go and the finesse of a supercar. However one day, the pulsar took a turn for the worse... After torential rain, the car managed to suck water up into the engine and completey destroy it. It was a painfully slow couple of months after the incident that a new heart was found and installed. And knowing Ben, everyone knew something was on the cards .With a Nissan SR20DET motor now pumping away, the humble little Pulsar was gone, replaced by its evil twin brother. After a few dramas...quite a few drama's infact the Pulsar now breathes forced air through a GT28 turbo and a set of N/A SR20DE cams. A 2.5" exhaust expells the nasties, while boost and temp gauges keep an eye on all of the important bits.To bring this pavement pounder to a halt, a set of SSS brakes and larger rotors and pads were fitted up while a Nissan SSS front bumper was added to keep with the sporty, factory look all aided by a flat black, front mounted intercooler. Ben's N15 Nissan Pulsar IS the whole package. The age of the OWH47 Pulsar is upon us, and I for one, can't wait to see what happens in the next chapter of its life. -Ellis Photocomp Unfortunately we had no submissions for the photocomp this month. I'll start a thread instead of doing it via PM - it might work a little better... Look out for this in next months letter! Suggestions If you have suggestions or ideas for improvement the give one of the team a hoy. Feel free to use our Support and Feedback section and so we can implement your ideas asap! Thanks again to everyone for a great month. Keep your eyes pealed on the board regularly for updates and events. Looking forward to seeing everyone out and about. A special shoutout to Afta, one of our newer members. Good luck on your driving test! We look forward to meeting you at a cruise soon.
