Welcome back to another month full of events and information with Queensland Cruising. If you joined after the 1st of June, you probably won't have seen one of these before. This is just a quick newsletter that we send out to all of our members to provide a snapshot of what's happening in the coming month. We type this up over a few days and make sure that we have the most content possible to keep you in the loop. I had meant to send this out last night but I ran out of time...

Car of the Month

This month's Car of the Month goes to Dutch's N16 Pulsar Turbo. Dutch has put a lot of work into this car over the last month repairing it and getting it back on the road. With plenty more planned over the coming months this car continues to be a source of inspiration for other N16 Pulsar owners. The QG18DE+T motor holds the current record for the most power pulled from one of these motors within Australia. Since the repairs, boost levels have been dropped significantly to give the engine a bit better fuel economy and life expectancy. Previously the motor recorded a whopping 237HP which is pretty outstanding for a 1.8 litre engine on basically stock internals.

Dyno Day Update

The Dyno Day is drawing ever closer. We have had a spot open up last minute so if you're keen to run your car then please visit the Dyno Day topic and post up your interest. We're looking forward to a huge turnout on the day and the show n' shine has seen a lot of interest from a number of very nice cars.

We'll have a professional DJ on the day playing and numerous awards and trophy's.

Spotted Cards & Stickers

Spotted cards and stickers are ready to go right now. We have had great success from the spotted cards being left for nice cars that you've seen around in car parks and on the road. Thanks to everybody who has donated to the website in the past month. It has helped take the pressure off tremendously by helping pay for new stickers, domain name renewals and t-shirts/hoodies which are on their way. You have probably noticed there are members in a bolded blue colour. These are donating members. We are also implementing some special donating member only benefits and discount VIP cards for various stores.

This month we're running a promotion for the highest donating member. The person who donates the most to the community will win one of the Meguiars Gold Class car wash packs worth over $95 RRP (AUD). This is just a reminder that today is the last day to secure your spot if you are already on the list for the dyno. As of Midnight (12:01am) 10th of June, the dyno spots will be open to everyone and we will no longer be reserving spots.

You can pay in three easy ways:

3. In person (PM Kane, 88BIN, benking or Beebs to arrange for payment in person).

Total due is $70.00 Including GST. Remember, if you are already on the Dyno list then you will need to pay by midnight tonight. After that we will be opening the spots that remain unpaid to all people on the waiting list. Dyno entrants that make it onto the final list will be sorted on a first paid first served basis.

Website Update:

It has been requested by many of our donating members to have their proper rank titles back as well as being listed as a donating member. Underneath your user Avatar, there is a line such as "Silver Member" etc etc etc - this is calculated by your post count. Previously these post count determined titles were not viewable if you were set as a donating member or a part of a special group. What we have done is allowed the forum to display both ranks. Unfortunately in the process of doing this, a few of the standard user Avatars went missing for donating members and will need to be re added to the forum.

Dyno Day Update!

The dyno day is nearly upon us. Currently we have 7 fully paid entrants and are awaiting another 16 payments to confirm your spot. If you want to reserve your spot, you have until the 10th of June to pay in full to either Beebs or via our online Credit Card/PayPal system. After the 10th of June it will be first paid first served. If you want to give me or Beebs the money in person then please send us a PM to arrange to do so.

The dyno day will be on Saturday 10th of July at Bob Romano Performance. For those who want to enter the Show n Shine it will be $2 to enter. This can be paid on the day to Beebs. There will be a full criteria on the day for the people that mark the cars.

Food: Sausage Sizzle and soft drinks on the day for GOLD COIN donations.
I also advise bringing food to munch on during the day but I believe that there are shops fairly close by.

There will be plenty of prize giveaways, photo's, videos and food going around so we look forward to seeing everybody there. Please let us know if you are coming, even if it's to enter the show and shine or just to spectate so that we can cater the required amount of food correctly.

Car of the Month

This month we are featuring Kane's B16A CRX. Many of our long standing members would not even remember this car due to unfortunate set backs and Dave's undying need to go that one step further. Many would go so far as to say that this car is an urban legend amongst the Qldcruising Car Community.

After some seriously long nights (often including consumption of various alcohol in varying quantities), blooded hands, sweat and hopefully not too many tears, the "easy" mobile is just about ready to return to the scene refreshed and considerably faster than before.

Everybody is hanging out to see this car run at the dyno day - Hopefully it'll put down a nice number! Personally I'm hanging out to have the pleasure of being taken out for a bit of a drive in this beast.

Congratulations to Dave and his crew for a job well done.

Car of the month will no longer be chosen by the team. Instead we'll be asking you to list a few cars you would like to see featured from the Members Rides section in the July newsletter. Please keep an eye out on the forum to get your say in the next featured car.

-Qldcruising Clothing

Branded clothing is now available for purchase. We need all orders in by the 15th of June to secure the required bulk discount to supply at the low price. T-Shirts are $18 and Hoodies are $39! Very well priced, very high quality and we're looking forward to seeing everyone wearing their hoodies and shirts on the Dyno Day. - Getting the forum moving

We know you're out there! Let yourself be heard and make some posts. We have so many people who browse the forums and read, which is fine, and we understand how daunting it can be introducing yourself to a group of new people. You are ALL extremely important to the continued growth of this website - we welcome your participation.

It's hard to believe that it's already May and that we're nearly half way through the year. Thank you to everybody for pulling together and getting out and about to the events last month. If you joined after the 1st of April, you probably won't have seen one of these before. This is just a quick newsletter that we send out to all of our members to provide a snapshot of what's happening in the coming month. We type this up over a few days and make sure that we have the most content possible to keep you in the loop.

I'm a bit late sending the newsletter out this month due to a crazily busy long weekend. A great time was had on Sunday night at the BBQ/Get Together and we're looking forward to the next one. Now that I've recovered I can write sensibly again... Thanks to Beno (JustMe) for organising the event.

Sponsors Update:

This month we've given away quite a lot of Meguiars merchandise to some lucky members. We're still in discussions with a couple of new sponsors who we hope to have on board by the end of next month.

Website Update:

The new design and rebuilt database is coming along nicely. We're going to still be working with the same system however we're added all of the suggestions in and refining the entire website. The completion date is still unknown but we hope to have some idea on this in the very near future.

Events Update:

We've had quite a number of Qldcruising.net events for April which have all been a great success. For April we had the following events and pictures can be found at viewforum.php?f=2 for all events.

8th April: High Performance Night @ Harry's (unofficial event)
This event was a great night out with around 20 of our members coming along. The standard of the cars there on the night was just awesome, and it was brilliant to see everybody bringing out their machines to show the crowd.

12th April: Monday Night Cruise (unofficial event)
Despite the threat of rain, this cruise was a great success. Along with a number of the members from our affiliate community StreetKarz, everybody had a great time.

18th April: Toowoomba Cruise (Official Event)
It started off looking like it was going to be a rainy day, however the weather held up and we all had an excellent time. The turnout was quite big with over 20 cars on the day. Many prize packs were given away and best of all - no one got lost!

21st of April: Wednesday Nigh Drive to Drive (Official Event)
Everyone had a great time at the "Big Easy" driving range on Wednesday night. Thanks to Christophagus for organising the event and to all who attended.

26th of April: Gympie Skidpan (Motorsport)
Thanks to project.r.racing for organising an awesome day out. Everybody that went has told me that it was great and that all the cars were most certainly put through their paces - especially OYN07's 2008 model WRX

Car of the Month

This month's car of the month goes to Project R34 by 33boxer. There has been a huge amount of work go into this car which has truly paid off. In just one month the following parts have been installed into the car:

* HKS GT-RS Turbo kit
* Apexi Power FC
* HKS EVC Boost Controller
* Nismo 480cc injectors
* Nismo Spark Plugs
* Nismo High Pressure Fuel Pump
* Nismo Fuel Pressure Regulator
* Nismo Coppermix Clutch
* Nismo GT LSD TT 2-way

Measuring in at just 153KW, the car has been transformed after the team at Hi-Power Racing had finished with it. The car now puts down a whopping 247.42kw down at the rear treads.



Congratulations to 33boxer who has won himself a Meguiars prize pack. Keep up the great work and we're looking forward to giving another prize pack out next month to another lucky "Car of the month" winner!
